1 package of puff pastry sheets (or 2 sheets), thawed to room temperature

All-purpose flour

2 egg yolks, beaten

1 tablespoon TRUFF HOTTER Hot Sauce

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper

6 oz. sharp provolone, grated

TRUFF Spicy Cheese Twists

We like our appetizers spicy and cheesy, and this recipe certainly fits the bill! 

These Spicy Cheesy Twisty Straws feature pre-made puff pastry sheets coated in a TRUFF egg wash and a generous amount of grated sharp provolone cheese. The pastries are cut into thin strips, twisted into spirals, and baked to the perfect golden brown.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. 
  2. Place the puff pastry sheets on a clean, flour-dusted workspace. Using a rolling pin, roll the sheets out into even 12x12 inch squares. 
  3. In a small bowl, combine egg yolks and TRUFF and whisk until blended. Brush the egg wash over the top of each sheet. 
  4. In a medium bowl, combine paprika, garlic, pepper, and provolone. Toss together until mixed. 
  5. Sprinkle the seasoned cheese evenly over the sheets and firmly press the cheese into the sheets with your hands. 
  6. Stack the sheets cheese side up on top of each other, and press (using your hands or a rolling pin) them together. 
  7. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. 
  8. Cut the stacked puff pastry sheets into 1/2 inch strips, twist the strips, and place them on the baking sheet an inch apart. 
  9. Place in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Let cool slightly before serving.
